BIR files new tax evasion raps vs. flood control contractors

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed tax evasion complaints before the Department of Justice against two contractors allegedly involved in anomalous flood control projects.

BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said during a press briefing on Thursday, November 27, that complaints were lodged against Sally Santos, owner of Syms Construction Trading, and against IM Construction Corp. along with its corporate officers.
According to the bureau, the two firms face a combined tax deficiency assessment of P13.8 million arising from fictitious expenses, underdeclared income, and falsified value-added tax filings.
