Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival calls on parents and families in crisis to seek help from the city government rather than abandon their children, declaring that no circumstance should strip a newborn of the right to care and protection.

His call came after a baby girl was discovered inside an eco bag along Gotianuy Street in Barangay Kamputhaw last Tuesday, January 20, a case that once again exposed the vulnerabilities of infants born into hardship.
Archival personally went to the hospital yesterday where the child was taken.
Speaking at a press conference the other day, Archival stressed that Cebu City has mechanisms to support families through the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS).
“Ang ako g'yung awhag naa tay opisina sa Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) nga andam motabang unsaon pagbuhi sa bata,” Archival said.
