PHQ rolls out colour coding for DNA samples, alerts IOs and FSL

|March 02, 2026
Police Headquarters (PHQ) has issued a new directive to police commissioners of Bhopal and Indore, as well as Superintendents of Police across all districts, introducing a colour-coding system for samples sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for DNA testing.
The step is aimed at making criminal investigations more systematic and accountable. It will help monitor pending cases efficiently and ensure prompt action once reports are received. The PHQ took this initiative following recent court remarks highlighting delays in DNA testing in certain criminal cases.
