TVK to go it alone for assembly poll

The Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam confirmed that it will contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly election on its own without forming an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, reaffirming its earlier stand through a statement by joint general secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar at a committee meeting. He stated: “There is absolutely no change in our stand. What our position was a month ago remains the same today.”
The announcement was made after the first meeting of a 28-member administrative committee formed to coordinate party activities for TVK, which is led by actor-turned-politician Vijay. The meeting underscored TVK’s intention to enter the 2026 Tamil Nadu election fully independently rather than align with the AAADMK or the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition.
