Despite there being 122 seats in the municipal corporation elections and claims of over 1,000 aspirants, the party allegedly forced many loyal workers to endure a "Katraj Ghat-like ordeal" while bending rules to allot two

tickets each to members of three select families. Party loyalists were further baffled by the apparent "red carpet" welcome extended to individuals who had openly opposed local MLAs in the past.
