The state government decision to appoint a special public prosecutor in the sexual abuse case involving Bishop Franco Mulakkal has been welcomed by the survivor-nun, who described the move as a long-awaited step that strengthens her pursuit of justice and restores public faith in the legal process.
Speaking to the media on Saturday at the St Francis Mission Home in Kuravilangad, Kottayam district, the nun said the government had accepted her specific request on the appointment. She confirmed that the advocate named as special public prosecutor was the very person she had sought, signalling confidence in the prosecution's ability to present the case with independence and rigour.
The survivor-nun, who chose to reveal her identity during the interaction, expressed gratitude to the state government, the Chief Minister and members of the public who stood by her through a prolonged legal and emotional struggle.
