Test samples of Coldrif cough syrup manufactured by Sresan Pharma in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, have failed quality checks and been confirmed adulterated, the state Food Safety and Drug Administration has announced.

The discovery triggered a full halt of production at the plant anda ban on its sale across Tamil Nadu, as officials link the syrup to the deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
