Visa-free travel for Indians ends following scams, fraud, and rising security risks

Iran has terminated the visa waiver facility for ordinary Indian passport holders, effective from November 22, 2025. This decision was implemented after the Iranian government reported that the facility was being exploited by criminal elements who were luring Indian citizens into the country under false pretenses.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the suspension and simultaneously issued an advisory to its citizens, urging caution following numerous reports of fraud, including job scams and kidnapping risks.
