Forest officials capture leopard

The Forest Department has successfully captured a leopard that had been roaming in the Artillery Centre area of Nashik, which had become sensitive after the animal attacked two-year-old Sreetik Gangadharan in the army colony near the Kargil Gate entrance. CCTV footage from Rajput Colony in Vadner Dumala Shivara had earlier shown a leopard hunting a dog on Sep 29. Acting on this information, the Forest Department caught the animal after an eight-day operation.

On Sep 30, around 8.30am, a joint team of the Forest Department and the Sangamner Rescue Team found the remains of the dog killed by the leopard. A cage was placed across the drain and the spot was covered with a net to prevent the leopard from falling into a nearby well. The Nashik Rescue Division completed preparations with
