NEHRU ON THE DOCK| 250-page dossier covers kickbacks through relatives
The Enforcement Directorate has submitted a detailed dossier to the Chief Secretary and DGP of Tamil Nadu accusing K. N. Nehru, the state’s Minister for Municipal Administration and Water Supply, of orchestrating a vast corruption network.
The agency alleges that between 7.5 % and 10 % of the total contract value from numerous tenders was siphoned off as bribes, raising the total illicit amount to an estimated 21,020 crore.
According to the 252-page filing, contractors who secured tenders for sanitation, village roads, water-lake works, community toilets and NABARD-supported projects were forced to pay kickbacks through relatives and associates of the minister.
