Court acquits man held with fake notes worth %5 lakh after four years in prison

Procedural lapses, unexplained delays in probe; accused caught in Jan 2020, case filed in 2021

After spending more than four years in prison, a sessions court on Thursday acquitted man who was booked for possessing counterfeit Rs500 notes worth over Rs5 lakh in January 2020.

Mukeshkumar Suthar, a resident of Rajasthan, was acquitted due to several procedural lapses and unexplained delays in the investigation. The court noted that although the accused was caught with fake currency in January 2020, the FIR was registered only in January 2021.
