Class 11 public exams go

The government has issued an order stipulating that public examinations for the 11th standard will be discontinued starting the 2025-26 academic year, reverting to the evaluation framework preceding 2017. The directive forms part of the newly announced State Education Policy unveiled by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi in Chennai.

Under the new policy, students in Class 11 will be assessed through internal evaluations, competency-based assessments, project work and class tests instead of state-level board exams.

The G. O. clarifies that the former regime of public exams—suspended since 2017—will now be restored: board exams will be conducted only for Classes 10 and 12, while Classes 1 to 8 will retain the no-detention policy.
