Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary on Monday accused Congress of attempting to misuse or steal the tag of Jan Nayak’ given to Karpoori Thakurji. “This is an insult to the legacy of Karpoori Thakur ji; he told the media.

Controversy erupted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that Congress was attempting to steal the title of Jan Nayak’ bestowed on Karpoori Thakur. PM Modi said this during his visit to Samastipur to address a public rally on October 24. The Prime Minister said, “Now they (Congress) are attempting to steal the title of Jan Nayak from our socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. But the people of Bihar will not let it happen and will give a befitting answer to them.”
