No new nomination will be accepted for postponed seats, only previously filed ones will remain valid; candidates will have the option to withdraw applications
A day after the polling in 24 municipal councils and nagar panchayats were rescheduled, the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday clarified that the decision was taken only after considering all legal aspects and following consultation with legal experts.
The SEC announced a revised schedule for polls in 24 municipal councils and nagar panchayats, along with 154 ward seats, where court decisions on appeals against orders of returning officers were delivered on or after November 23.
These polls, earlier scheduled for December 2, will now be held on December 20. Elections in all other areas will proceed as planned on December 2.
