Andhra Pradesh is set to take a significant step forward in strengthening its defence manufacturing ecosystem with the launch of another prestigious industrial project along the state's coastline.

IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation stone on Thursday for the establishment of an Autonomous Maritime Shipyard and Systems Centre at Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour in Bogole mandal of Nellore district. The facility, being developed by Sagar Defence Engineering Private Limited with support from the state government, is expected to become the worlds first centre dedicated to autonomous maritime shipbuilding and systems development.
