Power Generation Business, Leader, Cummins India, discusses AI-driven performance and enhanced uptime for gensets.
How do you assess the current demand scenario for gensets used in the construction sector? Which segments (infrastructure, roads, mining, real estate, etc.) are driving the demand?
We are at a time in India where we see construction across multiple segments all over India. Construction is one segment that utilizes gensets as main power supply in addition to utilizing them for backup power. As a result, we expect a robust demand for gensets in the construction space.
The main segments driving the demand are infrastructure and roads. The current emphasis on building infrastructure across India will further fuel the demand. These segments are places where gensets are used as main source of power. In addition, there is unprecedented demand for gensets for both commercial and residential real estate. After the COVID pandemic subsided, multiple residential and commercial projects were announced across India which has lead to a big demand for gensets for backup applications.
Could you elaborate on your genset range catering specifically to construction applications (site power, lighting, batching plants, etc.)?
Cummins offers a comprehensive genset portfolio ranging from, designed as fit-for-market solutions tailored to specific customer load requirements. Each genset is engineered for high load variation, ensuring optimal performance across diverse construction applications.

Eco survey: Devil is in the details
India’s Economic Survey 2025-26 laid before Parliament yesterday, while projecting a GDP growth of 6.8 to 7.2 per cent in FY27, keeping India among the fastest-growing major economies, also came with caveats—geopolitical tensions, trade fragmentation, rising protectionism, and rapid technological change that may upset India’s growth story by reshaping how capital moves and how supply chains function.
