Interim relief: HC allows expelled BTech student to continue studies at IET

In what is described perhaps as a first in the state, Indore Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has granted interim relief to a first-year BTech student of Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET)-DAVV who was expelled for his alleged involvement in a ragging incident that rocked the campus earlier this year.

- Atul Gautam

The court's order comes as a major setback to DAVV which took unprecedented action against students linked to the February ragging case by expelling four first-year students and suspending eight second-year students. The university had adopted a zero-tolerance approach to curb ragging, making direct expulsion a part of its disciplinary measures.
