BMC: Countdown starts with filing of nominations

Marking the first major administrative step ahead of the much-anticipated BMC elections, the nomination filing process begins on Tuesday and will continue until December 30.

As per the rules, aspirants must collect nomination forms from the returning officers and submit them offline, as no online system is available. The State Election Commission (SEC) has prescribed a fixed format for nomination forms and affidavits, an election officer said.

Mumbai has a total of 46 officers — 23 returning officers (ROs) and 23 assistant returning officers (AROs) appointed by BMC commissioner and district election officer Bhushan Gagrani.
