In a stunning turn of events at the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian wrestling sensation Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the women’s 50kg category just hours before her highly anticipated gold medal match against the USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt.

The reason for this drastic decision was Phogat’s failure to meet the weight requirements for her division. Found to be 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in, she was disqualified under the sport’s strict rules.
