Supreme Court Deplores Practice of Making Oral Mentions to Modify Orders or Judgements: 'Judicial Verdicts Not Like Sand Dunes'

Adding to it, the court stated that, 'This court deplores such practices of making oral mentions for modification of the orders or judgments in the guise of a review and the same cannot be permitted circumventing the legal process of filing a review.'

The Supreme Court in the case CS Umesh v TV Gangaraju and others observed and has deplored the practice of making oral mentions for modification of the orders or judgments in the guise of a review.

The court in the case reminded that the hallmark of a judicial pronouncement is its 'stability and finality', quoting from its judgment in the case of Superteh Limited vs Emerald Court Owner Resident Welfare Association.

The bench comprising of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case observed that, 'The judicial verdicts are not like sand dunes which are subject to the vagaries of wind and weather.'
