Rachna Singh, founding editor of The Wise Owl magazine, is a former IRS officer and author of six books, including Phoenix in Flames and Raghu Rai: Waiting for the Divine, a biography of the legendary photog rapher.

Q: You were an officer of the Indian Revenue Service for three decades but then took VRS in 2021 to become a fulltime writer and the founding editor of The Wise Owl. What prompted this transition?

A: I've always been passionate about reading and writing, even before joining the IRS. While my career in taxation was fulfilling, I felt a longing for the creative satisfaction that literature provides. The pandemic reminded me of life's fleeting nature, and in 2021, I took voluntary retirement to pursue my creative passion.

Q: What inspired you to start The Wise Owl?
