SEIL to boost Andhra power supply with new unit

Oman-based Tanweer Infrastructure Pte Ltd, which operates one of India’s largest independent power plants in Andhra Pradesh, is set to enhance the state’s power supply.

This development follows the recent release of a white paper by the Andhra Pradesh government on the power sector’s challenges.
Tanweer Infrastructure will enter into a contract with the Andhra Pradesh government to dedicate an additional power unit. The company currently operates four units: one dedicated to Andhra Pradesh, with the remaining units supplying power to Telangana and Bangladesh. An eight-year contract for supplying 570 MW to Telangana expired in March and has not been renewed, leading Andhra Pradesh to capitalise on this opportunity.
