India runners Shivnath Singh and Hari Chand won gold medals at the Asian Games in the 5000 m and 10000 m. In much the same manner Sriram Singh was dominant in the 800 m winning back to back Asian games gold. Hari Chand set a 10000 m record that stood for 18 years.
