India rushes aid as Ditwah devastates Sri Lanka

India has simultaneously launched **Operation Sagar Bandhu**, a large scale humanitarian and rescue mission in support of Sri Lanka. The Indian Air Force said on Sunday that an IAF C-17 has airlifted NDRF teams and equipment from Pune and Vadodara to Chennai as part of the ongoing domestic support effort. Under the same operation, the Air Force has delivered 21 tonnes of relief material, over 80 NDRF personnel and eight tonnes of specialised equipment to Colombo. Additional supplies, including food, clothing, fuel and dry rations, were handed over in Trincomalee with contributions from the Indian community in Sri Lanka.
