Haryana Eyes Bumper Harvest, to Procure 75 Lakh Tonnes of Wheat

Eyeing a bumper wheat harvest this year, the Haryana government has set a target of procuring 75 lakh tonnes of wheat for the coming Rabi Marketing Season.
While giving this information, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements for the procurement of wheat, mustard, barley, chickpeas, lentils, and sunflower. With an expected bumper wheat harvest, the Chief Minister stressed the need for solid preparations to avoid any inconvenience for farmers in selling their crops at mandis.
Chairing a review meeting at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh, Saini instructed the Marketing Board officials to construct large sheds in mandis to meet future requirements. He also emphasized extending the procurement period by 15 to 20 days on a pilot basis to ensure farmers have ample time to sell their produce.
