Gulmarg terror attack: Toll rises to 5 as another soldier dies

Another soldier has been martyred in a terrorist attack on an Army vehicle near the Nagin post in the Botapathri area of Gulmarg, bringing the total death toll to five.

Three soldiers and two civilian porters lost their lives in the attack on Thursday evening, which also left three soldiers injured.

The ambush occurred just 6-7 kilometres from the Line of Control (LoC), an area where civilian movement is heavily restricted. According to officials, the convoy was targeted while navigating through Botapathri, a region near the popular tourist site of Gulmarg. The slain porters have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Chaudhary from Nowshera and Manzoor Ahmed Mir from Barnate Boniyar. A third porter, Bashraat Ali from Uri, is reported to be critically injured. The identities of the fallen soldiers are still being confirmed.
