We have all gathered blind spots from our interactions with parents, the wider family, and our culture. They are different for each person because we all have a unique life story.
When we become emotional, we cannot see beyond the emotion.
When we develop the ability to see a blind spot, we can delve deeper and learn a great deal about ourselves. Emotional disturbance is an invitation to look further. The stronger the emotion, the more blinding it is and the less we are able to see ourselves as we really are.
There are four principles to consider when investigating blind spots:
