ECI Pushes 100-Day Agenda With 21 Reforms Focused On Voters And Transparency
The Daily Guardian
|May 30, 2025
The roadmap for a revitalized ECI was introduced during the Chief Electoral Officers' (CEOs) Conference held in March 2025.

To make elections more accessible, transparent, and voter-friendly, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has unveiled 21 new initiatives within the first 100 days of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar assuming office.
The reforms, described as purposeful, pragmatic, and proactive, aim to improve procedural efficiency, deepen stakeholder engagement, and boost public trust in the electoral process.
The roadmap for a revitalized ECI was introduced during the Chief Electoral Officers' (CEOs) Conference held in March 2025, with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi also in attendance.
To improve voter access and reduce overcrowding at polling stations, the ECI has lowered the maximum number of voters per station from 1,500 to 1,200.
Additional polling booths will now be set up in densely populated areas like gated communities and high-rise complexes.
A key objective is to ensure no voter travels more than 2 km to cast their vote.
Voter Information Slips have been redesigned to feature clearly marked serial and part numbers for easier identification.
A new Mobile Deposit Facility at polling station entrances will provide added convenience to voters.
