EC March Halted; INDIA Bloc Leaders Detained

A protest march by INDIA bloc MPs, led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, was halted and over 200 MPs detained by Delhi Police on Monday as they attempted to reach the Election Commission of India (ECI) to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and alleged "vote theft" during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The march began from Parliament's Makar Dwar, with MPs carrying placards, chanting "vote chor" slogans, and wearing caps marked "SIR" and "vote theft." Tensions flared near Transport Bhawan as police erected multiple barricades, prompting heated exchanges. Several MPs, including Trinamool Congress' Mahua Moitra and Congress' Sanjana Jatav, climbed the barricades. Akhilesh Yadav and his brother Dharmendra Yadav also scaled the barriers before being detained.
