SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft is a fully autonomous, reusable capsule designed to ferry astronauts and cargo to and from low-Earth orbit. Since NASA first certified it for human spaceflight in 2020, Dragon has become the workhorse for both government and private missions. Unlike NASA's earlier shuttle programs, Dragon's architecture allows multiple launches per year at reduced costs, opening the door for commercial operators like Axiom Space to run their own missions.
For private astronauts, Dragon provides a gateway to space without relying solely on national space agencies. Its pressurized crew section, state-of-the-art controls, life support systems, and emergency abort capabilities make it a leading platform in orbital space travel.
