Applications submitted through the online system will be scrutinised at the level of the food supply officer. Field visits may be conducted wherever necessary for verification of applicants, and officials may raise queries regarding details furnished in the application.

All zonal assistant commissioners of the Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs department of the Delhi government have been informed about a standard operating procedure (SOP) for processing applications for new ration cards.

The government is expected to shortly begin the process of filling over 8 lakh ration card vacancies in the city. Delhi has a quota of around 72 lakh beneficiaries under ration cards, and fresh applications are invited when vacancies arise due to death, surrender or migration, officials said.
