BAORIS OF RAJASTHAN: TIMELESS GUARDIANS OF WATER AND HERITAGE

KEY FEATURES OF BAORIS: CM'S DRIVE BOOSTS WATER CONSERVATION

Stepwells: These are deep wells with steps descending down to the water level, allowing people to access water even when levels fluctuate.

Architectural Marvels: Many baoris are intricately carved with elaborate designs, showcasing a blend of utility and artistry.

Community Spaces: Historically, baoris were not just water sources but also social and cultural hubs where people gathered.

Sustainable Engineering: They reflect traditional rainwater harvesting techniques adapted to Rajasthan's dry climate.

Rajasthan, under the supervision and surveillance of CM Bhajan lal Sharma, is working continuously for the betterment and enhancement of water conservation facilities in the State. In this direction, CM Bhajan lal Sharma has launched a significant drive on World Environment Day, known as "Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan", aiming at creating awareness about the importance of water conservation among the people, renovation of reservoirs, and promotion of the idea of making Rajasthan self-reliant in water supply.

Rajasthan, the land of deserts, is known for its methods to conserve every drop of water. To combat water scarcity and make life viable in such a dry climate, the people of Rajasthan mastered the art of building baoris, also known as stepwells.
