Attack on Dalit CJI sparks Oppn

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav called the attack on the CJI “a result of the normalisation of hatred and violence under state patronage since 2014.” He posted on X, “Are people belonging to the Dalit community and those following the spirit of the Constitution not safe even while holding Constitutional posts?” Comparing the attack to “an assault on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the maker of the Constitution,” he alleged that “some people are emitting their poison under the garb of religion.”

RJD national spokesperson Nawal Kishore told TDG, “The RJD has continuously fought for the dignity and self-respect of the Bahujan Samaj—SCs, STs, OBCs, and minorities—and will continue to fight against such atrocities. Look at the kind of communal atmosphere being created by the BJP, where a man chanting ‘Sanatan Dharma’ attacked a Dalit Chief Justice of India—something unprecedented in the country’s history.” He said the Bahujan community was “taking serious note of this attack.”
