'Subdued first half' for Famous Brands

Despite reporting a 9.5% increase in interim headline earnings per share (Heps) yesterday, Famous Brands posted modest revenue growth of 2% for the six months ended 31 August, to just over R4 billion.

Famous Brands, which has a largely franchised network of over 2 900 restaurants and takeaway outlets in South Africa, Southern Africa, the UK and the Middle East, declared an interim dividend per share of 150 cents (vs 138 cents in August last year) or 9% up, while interim operating profit was "flat" at R371 million.
