Hats off to coaches for backing their youth

I know all roads lead to the FNB Stadium for the eagerly-awaited Carling Knockout quarterfinal clash between old foes Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns today.

The fixture is rightfully dominating all the headlines and sports magazine programs across radio and television.

If the recent meeting between the two teams is anything to go by, then fans are in for a treat as the two giants of South African football battle it out for a place in the semifinals of what has become known as the beer cup.

Sundowns edged Chiefs 2-1 in what was a tightly contested game at the same venue a couple of weeks back.

Having said all that, let's also focus on the rising crop of youngsters in the country who are showing promise of becoming elite footballers.

The list is growing by the minute and it's encouraging to see coaches giving teenagers a chance to showcase their talents.
