Monbeg Genius can finally land the big prize he has threatened for so long in the Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow today.

In a normal year Monbeg Genius might not be as strongly fancied over an extended 5600m in very heavy ground.
However, with conditions at the Monmouthshire venue not as wet as in previous years, it means Jonjo and AJ O'Neill's chaser should have more of a chance of seeing out the trip.
In any case, at one point last season he was favourite for the Grand National at Aintree, so there were obviously plenty of people who fancied him to see out 6800m there.
His reputation is largely based on his novice season, when he rattled off a hat-trick and ran a stormer at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival when third to subsequent Grand National winner Corach Rambler and multiple Grade 1 scorer Fastorslow.
