Two girls, 13, arrested over Metro assault
The Chronicle
|April 09, 2025
TWO teenagers have been arrested after an attack on a girl from North Shields, while she was travelling on a Tyne and Wear Metro train.
The two suspects, both 13, have been taken into custody on suspicion of common assault by beating. The girl was the subject of an assault near Wallsend Metro Station.
Northumbria Police officers arrived at the scene just after 8pm on Friday, and those involved had already left the area. The victim was left shaken by the incident and was then taken to hospital, where it was revealed that she sustained extensive bruising and a sprained wrist.
The two arrested have been released on police bail pending further enquiries, with part of these conditions meaning that they cannot enter a Metro station or travel on the service without an adult present.
