Inside the Grey Street building
THE former Lloyds Bank building in Newcastle city centre is poised to be transformed into a high end restaurant, it has been confirmed.
The historic building at 102 Grey Street has been empty since last summer, when banking giant Lloyds moved from the property into new offices.
The company moved from the Grade II star listed building into the newly-refurbished offices at Monument Mall, the former home of Sports Direct.
The move freed up the sizeable building, deemed to be a trophy asset in Newcastle city centre, with its double height banking hall on the ground floor, and offices set on upper levels arranged around a grand central atrium, a feature which could prove to be perfect for a restaurant.
