Tough to sacrifice Rigg after red card, says Le Bris

The Chronicle

September 24, 2025

SUNDERLAND head coach Regis Le Bris admits it was difficult to take off Chris Rigg just 37 minutes into his Premier League debut at the Stadium of Light against Aston Villa.

- By CLIVE YOULTON Football writer

The Black Cats' youngster was one of the bright sparks in an encouraging first half display, but Reinildo's silly red card meant Le Bris had to reshuffle his pack.

The left-back had been awarded a foul following a challenge from Matty Cash, but kicked out at his fellow fullback in frustration.

Rigg was the man to make way as the French head coach went to a back-five.

The England youth international was visibly disappointed as he made his way off the pitch, having made a really good start to the game.

No escaping your fitter enemy

EVERY new show needs a great opening. Something to forcefully grab the viewer's attention and maintain that vice-like grip for the next hour or so. The producers of Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing must have been rubbing their hands with glee when they saw the rough cut of this first episode: a glimpse of the countryside, a nice burst of birdsong, sounds of a man and a woman laughing and then... two people naked in a shower. Goodness me, and it's only just past the watershed too.
