A THUG who battered a woman with a baseball bat has been jailed.

Jake Lee Kay ran up to his victim and another woman in the street on June 14 and launched his attack.

The 23-year-old hit the woman with the weapon before walking away from the scene on Derwent Avenue, in Crook.

But he returned when a concerned neighbour who had witnessed the incident came out to help.
