Road closure part of fans' safety trial

MEASURES IN PLACE AFTER UNITED'S LIVERPOOL GAME
NEWCASTLE City Council will again trial a road closure to help football fans get home safely after the next St James’ Park fixture.
The main area affected by the short-term closure is Barrack Road, immediately outside the stadium.
The trial will begin at the Newcastle United vs Liverpool match, which kicks off at 8pm on Monday.
Newcastle City Council, Northumbria Police, and Newcastle United are collaborating on the measure to provide a safer environment for the thousands of supporters leaving the stadium after the final whistle.
The diversion of traffic away from this busy route will also help reduce delays for other road users.
