NEWCASTLE United academy lead coach Adam Lawrence has been impressed by Magpies prospect Sean Neave - and has revealed what he is doing to aid the young forward's bid to progress into Eddie Howe's first team squad on a regular basis.

- By MARK CARRUTHERS

After making a number of appearances during United’s preparations for the current season, some suspected Neave could take advantage of the lack of attacking options within Howe's ranks and make his long-awaited senior debut.

However, the striker has been a regular for the Magpies Under-21s and had scored nine goals in 16 games in all competitions after opening the scoring in Saturday's home clash with Premier League 2 rivals Burnley, before striking a 97th-minute winner to double his tally for the day and seal a 3-2 victory.
