Heaton Festival has, until now, been held very two years
A POPULAR Newcastle community festival which had been expected to take place this summer has been cancelled.
Heaton Festival has shared the news on Facebook without giving a reason - but says the hope is to return in 2027.
The long-running event, which draws big crowds to Heaton Park in Newcastle, is always a hit with families for its free programme of live music, food and craft stalls plus sports and children’s activities.

No escaping your fitter enemy
EVERY new show needs a great opening. Something to forcefully grab the viewer's attention and maintain that vice-like grip for the next hour or so. The producers of Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing must have been rubbing their hands with glee when they saw the rough cut of this first episode: a glimpse of the countryside, a nice burst of birdsong, sounds of a man and a woman laughing and then... two people naked in a shower. Goodness me, and it's only just past the watershed too.
