Pair sentenced for savage dog attack
The Chronicle
|August 30, 2025
TWO Bull Mastiff owners have been sentenced after their out-of-control dogs attacked a married couple and left one with a disfigured ear.
Friends Daniel Hutchinson and Michelle King were at a barbecue in North Tyneside when their four dogs ran off and attacked an unsuspecting couple.
The male victim was viciously attacked and sustained puncture wounds to his body, and lost his lower ear. His wife suffered scratches and was left “distraught”.
On Thursday, Hutchinson, 33, and King, 44, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court via video links to be sentenced for offences of being an owner/person in charge of a dangerously out of control dog.
Both defendants had pleaded guilty. The court heard that on December 27, 2021, dog-breeder Hutchinson was hosting a barbecue at his then-address on Blackhill Avenue in Wallsend.
