No easing up for Mariners' chief

IAN Watson believes title-chasing South Shields must stick together as they prepare for a tough trip to play off contenders Darlington.

The Mariners produced their performance of the season on Boxing Day as a Cedwyn Scott hat-trick inspired his side to a 6-0 hammering of North East neighbours Spennymoor Town.

Paul Blackett, Dan Dodds and Todd Alcock also found the net at the 1st Cloud Arena.

However, Watson has warned they can’t afford to bask in the glory of that impressive display and must work to improve further.

He said: "What is really important is that we don’t just rest on this win, take the credit and sit on it - we have to get better.

"Training between the Spennymoor and Darlington games is just so important, we have to make sure we are ready for a really hard game.
