Masked thieves target children's charity donations

BOSSES at a children’s charity and visitor centre have described the alleged theft of two charity boxes by masked men as “cruel”.

On Monday morning, two men are reported to have entered Seven Stories in the Ouseburn Valley and taken a donation box from the front desk and another from outside their Elmer exhibition.

Staff were understandably left shaken by the incident, which centre bosses say has never happened before.

It is not known how much money was in the boxes, but the charity had just come off a busy Easter holidays. Georgie Hume, communications executive at Seven Stories said: “Obviously it’s a period of high footfall and generous visitors, but we don’t know exactly how much there was between them.”
