DRUG seizures hit a post-pandemic high in 2024 according to new data that reveals the most popular substances across England and Wales.

- By RICHARD AULT

Nearly 218,000 drug seizures were made in the year ending March 2024, including 485,000 cannabis plants, 11,000kg of herbal cannabis, 361kg of cannabis resin, 1,700kg of powdered cocaine, 114kg of heroin, and 413,000 doses of ecstasy.

That was a 13% increase on the previous year and the largest number of seizures since the year ending March 2021, when the UK was under lockdown restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
