June 24, 2025

A CONVICTED fly-tipper had to be sprayed with synthetic pepper as police tried to arrest him.

Adrian Austin was with his dog on a street in Ashington when officers turned up and attempted to detain him.

However, the 34-year-old saw red and shouted "I'm not getting arrested" before getting into a scuffle with the constables and refusing to calm down. It took some time before Austin was eventually handcuffed and only after police were forced to use their PAVA spray, an incapacitant similar to pepper spray, prosecutors said.
