Major festival cancelled as company shuts down

A MAJOR festival set to take place in Newcastle this weekend has been cancelled, after the firm in charge of it has ceased trading.

Billed as 'the ultimate craft spirit adventure,' the Gin To My Tonic event has been held on Tyneside on various occasions over the last few years, drawing big crowds.

And, until just two weeks ago, it was set to take over the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle city centre, with the promise of an array of different drinks to try, street food vendors and live entertainment.

However, the event will no longer go ahead, after The Gin To My Tonic team took to their Facebook page on June 30 to confirm that they had ceased trading and all of their scheduled events would be cancelled as a result.
