SOUTH Shields earned the praise of manager Ian Watson after an energetic display saw off National League North rivals Chorley to move into the fourth and final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
-
A brace from the impressive Will Jenkins, a penalty from Paul Blackett and a Dan Dodds strike ensured the Mariners’ place in Monday's draw. Even a slightly unfortunate own goal couldn't take the shine off another impressive day of work.
“The scoreline would make it look like we make light work of it, but in football there’s no such thing,” said Watson.
“| thought we worked really hard, we stuck to our game plan really well and we maintained our structure for the main part of the game.
“We got sloppy at times, we played the scoreboard. But for most of the game | thought the boys were incredible, worked hard, moved the ball really well.
